Empty

The calendar marks another day,
another day to proclaim that which cannot be properly proclaimed.

Happy Mother’s Day –
What gift could be gift enough to thank you for revealing to me that miracles are real?
What could I do to honor you sufficiently, to let you know that I am forever indebted to you, endlessly.
You being a mother, means that I am a father, and together we are a family.
By this very fact my life is abundantly full, yet my hands are empty to find anything that is worthy of saying thank you.

Your Birthday –
Your birthday marks the day that my life's course was forever altered,
instead of staggering aimlessly, your birth set the trajectory of my life.
Without you in this world, I wouldn’t know life.
My heart is full; my life is full, all because of you being here.
Yet my hands are once again empty, empty because there is no thing, no thing that is sufficient to say that I am Happy that today is your birthday.

All I have to offer you is me, all that I can do to honor all that you’ve given me…
Is giving you all of me, always and completely.

I know no other way, I will give you my every breath, today and every day.

Happy Mother’s Day and Happy Birthday!

Just know that in my heart I celebrate these days every day, because they are what give me life.
