Our Cartographer

This is the map our little man made.  I'm sure at 5 he knows more about the geography of the United States than I do.

Well Said..

Attend to self reform
and social reform
will take care of itself.

Empty Boat

The Empty Boat

If a man is crossing a river
And an empty boat collides with his own skiff,
Even though he be a bad-tempered man
He will not become very angry.
But if he sees a man in the boat,
He will shout to him to steer clear.
And if the shout is not heard he will shout
Again, and yet again, and begin cursing -
And all because there is somebody in that boat.
Yet if the boat were empty,
He would not be shouting, and he would not be angry.

Turning Four

Vivian’s Turning Four

Vivian is it possible to find the words to say,
all that needs said on your special day?

We’ve been blessed with the presence of an angel,
now going on year Four.

Vivian is everything that is pure,
all that is good.

Always willing to do, to help,
except when she’s not,
because sometimes she doesn’t.

Four parts sugar, three parts spice,
somehow she is perfect,
somehow she is,
just right.

Vivian is a lover of love,
she is a hugger of hugs,
a kisser of kisses.

She is empty gum wrappers
and candy dishes.
She is Sleeping Beauty meets Cinderella,
she is all too happy when it rains,
just to walk with her umbrella…

She is a tear in your eye,
a smile on your face,
and all the beauty of a loving embrace.

As a family we are all the most fortunate of kinds,
we get to spend our time with her.
She is all we could have asked for,
and so much more.

The best companion for her big brother,
the greatest big sister,
a princess who rarely gets her own light.

Vivian thank you,
for being the angel that you are,
you are beautiful, kind, and loving.

Quite simply you are perfect.

Vivian, happy birthday, welcome to Four.
We could’ve never asked for more.
