A Breath

This afternoon as I walked into my office, I took a deep breath.  One that almost cleanses your soul.  I think the sweet smell of rain contributed to the analogy, but it was a long good breath.  The perfect fit coming off of a nice long Easter weekend.  We were able to spend the weekend with family doing all the wondrous events that are an Easter weekend with young children.  From Easter Egg hunts to wiffle ball in the front yard, it was all good.  It was more than good, it was the time spent that breaths life into the soul.

We also celebrated our daughter's 2nd birthday.  Birthday's are a particularly awesome time, a time that calls me to stop and appreciate.  Just appreciate how much someone can mean.  It was a beautiful time, as our daughter leaned in to blow out her candles, I was fighting back tears.  For all the right reasons...

As a father I still can't help but pinch myself and wonder, what have I ever done to be worthy of the beauty that my life holds.  I can't answer that, nor will I try.  But watching her lean in to blow out those candles, with her brother right beside her helping, it was just such a beautiful sight.

Happy Birthday to our beautiful Vivian!  You are amazing.

The other night as I sat beside her bed while she drifted off to sleep, these words came to me.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My wish for you is that your heart be so full of love, that for one instant may you never doubt.

My hope for you is that you have the courage to acknowledge self doubt, yet never spend a moment in fear.

My dream for you is that you spend all of your moments, seeking with all of your heart to live your passions.

May your soul know that you are capable of any task, while simultaneously understanding that if you need, you need only ask.

My place in all of this is to help you build wings strong enough to take you to the peaks that await you.

My gift is a heart full of the joy that has been spending just one moment with you.
